Wouldn't you rather know the details from your own parents instead of the story someone else makes up? Do you wish you had your mother's special Christmas recipe that she never got around to handing down to you? Even if you don't miss having the information, your kids and your wife might want it. Put your ancestry and history together for your kids, and for their kids. One day one of them will probably do a report on your story for a school project. Make them proud! Make sure they feel they know you! Tell of your life story, of your likes and dislikes, your habits, your traditions. Someone will WANT to read it! Label those photos before you forget who is in them. Leave a legacy that those coming after you will be proud to show - to further relatives down the line, for school reports, for pride. Let your grand kids and great grand kids know who you were.
Write out your story for your kids's sakes - and for whomever might want to read it! If you want to write a

Make a "tree" listing relatives from you and your children backward - from you to your parents, to each of their parents, to each of their parents. Fill in the information you have on each - name, dates of birth and death, date of marriage, place of birth and death, and any other wonderful information you have (perhaps a quote, a profession, an award, a book that was authored, etc.), including any photos. Connect them with lines to relate who was married to whom, and the chldren that came from that union. If there was a re-marriage, place those to the side and connected, to show the step-relationships.
