Have you heard about detoxing over and over and over? Do you think food, tinctures or smoothies will detox you? There is so much you can do than to rely on magic potions. You can make your own detox procedures. There are ready made solutions that can be helpful, though.

You have lungs, kidneys, liver and other detoxing organs. Your body takes care of detoxing much of your system. Use common sense and don’t let your body take in toxins, as much as possible. You won’t clear out all toxins from your system just by paying for these detox programs – you have to help by living a healthy lifestyle and do self-care detox. Check what types of detox methods are available for you to try.

Fuel that you put in needs to be potent and nutritious, free from pesticides and GMO’s (doused with Round-up), and closest to the source (not processed). You over-tax your organs by ingesting poisons and toxins.

Don’t smoke or breathe bad air, as much as possible. Your lungs can only filter so much, to keep you from harming your lungs. Smoke from fires is harmful and especially from urban fires, burning toxins of plastics, oils, acids, and more. Stay inside during bad pollution days and do not go out running to pull more toxic air in.You might flush out your sinuses occasionally or at least when feeling sick with a neti pot.

Drink lots of water – water cleanses your body – you flush toxins out in your urine. Put a pinch of pure salt in your glass of water for an electrolyte.

Keep air-purifying plants in your rooms. They can help pull toxins from the air. These include the peace lily (acetone, alcohols, formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, trichloroethylene, etc.), ficus, Chysanthemum (formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, xylene, trichloroethylene), bamboo palm (formaldehyde, benzene, chloroform, carbon monoxide, xylene), snake plant, eucalyptus, Gerber daisy, Chinese evergreen (formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, xylene), pothos (formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, carbon monoxide, toluene), azalea, English/hedera ivy (benzene, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde), Boston fern, rubber plant (formaldehyde), dracaena (formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, trichloroethylene), Arica palm (benzene, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene), schefflera, spider plant, and certain others.

To help pull heavy metals, like lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, uranium, try using certain foods and herbs – cilantro, coriander, chlorella, blue-green algae, burdock root, garlic, selenium, onion, bentonite, amino acid glutathione, turmeric, and cloves – but make sure you aren’t mixing with incompatible meds (don’t use anything that can harm you).

If you have mercury fillings, you should see about taking them out.

In your home, you are exposed to formaldehyde (glues, paints, carpets, furniture), trichloroethylene (adhesives, cleaners, paint removers), and benzene (rubber, pesticides, plastics, synthetics). The air is filled with pollution – toxins in the air. Water has fluoride (some fluoride is fine and necessary for cavity control, but try to filter it out if you drink a lot of water) and may have other elements passed on to you, like microscopic plastic beads. Filter your water to avoid toxins. New clothes, carpets, cars, etc. contain breathable toxins.

You can make your own detox tea blend – I do and drink it once daily. You can use herbs and spices such as: dandelion root and leaves, cilantro, milk thistle, ginger, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, fennel, lemon balm, lemongrass, nettle, burdock root, turmeric, cayenne pepper, lemon, basil, cardamom, mint, marshmallow root, and other healthy ingredients. you can blend with a green, black, rooibos, or white tea. Here are healing teas.

Do Ayurvedic detoxing – dry brushing before a shower, oil pulling, sweating in a sauna – or sweating in general – toxins leave your body in the sweat. Do dry brushing prior to showering – use a dry brush, like pictured, and brush your skin pretty much toward your heart.

You can try a clay product to help your skin – clay pulls out some toxins.

We are surrounded by toxins – the best way to keep exposure down is to limit exposure as much as possible. Eat good foods (including the above suggestions), making sure to get vitamins and minerals without ingesting pesticides. Keep plants plentiful in your home and do the best you can. You may not need to follow a regimented detox regimen if you live cleanly, though it doesn’t hurt to do some detox daily.
