Puppy Collar Gets Pulled Off in Play
My puppy’s tags and even collar get pulled off when rough puppy play is going on. I have to look all over the yard for the collar and the tags if they were torn off. Tags are harder to find in all the grass.
I decided to take his collar off when they played so I didn’t have to look for it or any tags in the backyard. I realized that is a bad solution because if anyone came into the yard and he slipped out, no one could figure who he belongs to, other than his microchip (and that depends on is anyone wants to have that checked). He could get run over by a car or get into another dogfight and I would never know.
I got another collar with just his ID on it so he can play roughhouse in that collar. When not playing, I will put his collar on with his tags. Now I feel better that he can be identified and with my phone number on the bare bones collar.
It’s been working really well – both the ID and other collar are staying intact. I keep the collar with the tags inside and replace it on him when he’s not playing and I am walking him.
