Are you not hearing well? Do you have plugged ears?

I’m sure you have heard not to put anything bigger than your elbow into your ears – no cotton swabs, no bobby pins, etc. There is a better, safer way to tackle ear wax removal (or can’t hear well) when there is too much, or pushed into the ear. Remove ear wax safely. You might not hear well due to wax build-up. You might not hear well due to wax build-up.

When you put things into your ear you might harm the eardrum. You might push wax further in and compact it. It may affect your hearing so not hear well. You need to remove ear wax safely.

Ear wax is necessary to catch dirt from getting into your ears. Sometimes the ear wax collects too heavily and clogs up your hearing. You might not even realize that you have an issue. Sometimes you get pain in your ear. You may have plugged ears, and you might not hear well.

You might think that you need to go to a doctor if you do not hear well or have pain in the ear – but first try an easy self-help method to remove ear wax safely (it’s much cheaper if you do the ear wax removal than to pay for a doctor to do it). A doctor told me to do this, as I had to go to the urgent care center during a vacation for extreme pain and pressure in my ear.

Get a baby nose syringe or a large wide spout syringe, a cup, a couple of cotton balls and some olive oil (or other oil that is pure and mild – or even an earwax softener product). I like to do this in the shower, but you can do it over a sink, as well.

Lean your ear to the side and put a few drops of the oil in your ear. Do a bit of head rotation to move the oil to various areas of your ear. You should feel it moving around. Leave it for a few minutes, then put a cotton ball in to plug the ear. Do the same to the other ear. Put a cotton ball in that ear too. Leave for several minutes.

Fill the cup with lukewarm water. Take out the cotton balls. Tilt your head to the side you first put the oil in. Fill the syringe with water and push a stream into your ear. Keep doing this over and over until you see bits of wax (they may be black or dark brown – the more often you do this the lighter the color will be and less initial debris – do this perhaps once a month or two). Once you see some debris start coming out, eventually a clump should fall out. Once this happens you are done with that side. Do the same on the other side. Your plugged ears should open up and you should hear better again.

There are also ear wax solutions that dissolve the ear wax. Read the instructions on the packet.

You should immediately hear better and take pressure off your eardrum. If this doesn’t help you, then go see a doctor because something more serious may be wrong. In most cases, this fix is all you need (and you can save money from having a doctor do this for you). Bottom line – remove ear wax safely and don’t stick things into your ear that cause harm.
