Healing a burn – if you get a burn, you can treat it yourself if on the top layer of the skin – or try the below if slightly deeper tissue. Always call the doctor if it is serious, or over a large part of you, or extends further into deep layers of the skin, or if it gets infected (swelling, fever, oozing or foul smell, for example).

Healing a burn on your own is described below for a type of burn that isn’t horrific or really bad. I got advice from my acupuncturist when she saw a deep burn from a heating pad I used – and it worked well for me. The skin was discolored from where the heating pad was (much like a bruise), so deeper tissue was burned. It didn’t hurt but it showed tissue damage. I Instinctively took my aloe vera plant and cut off a leaf, slit it open and rub the sticky gel into the skin of the burn area.

Aloe vera for burns is a great healer and burn treatment. Use it with your burn care. Don’t use oil or butter, cotton, or ice. You can run cold water over the burn. You can bandage the burn area while it heals to protect it from dirt and such.

!st degree burn is on the top layer of skin. 2nd degree burn is on the 2nd level of skin. 3rd degree burn is on next level – this is more serious. Burn treatment needs doctor care in some 2nd degree burns and pretty much every 3rd degree. You might be able to do burn care for up to 2nd degree burns yourself.

2nd degree burns tend to blister. Keep the area clean and especially when blisters might open. Worse blisters take longer to heal – and maybe you should ask a doctor about them. Burns in sensitive areas should be asked about. For anything worse – ask the doctor.

When I went to my acupuncturist and she saw the stressed muscle tissue from the burn, I told her I was using aloe vera for burns and she told me it wasn’t likely absorbed well beyond the skin surface. She suggested that I combine it with emu oil. Emu oil is absorbed through the skin – the tissues want it and want to absorb it in. Mixing aloe with emu oil would pull the aloe deeper into the tissues and get it past the skin surface, making aloe vera for burns more effective.

By the next day the healing was showing great improvement to another health provider who saw it when I had an appointment the next day.

Emu oil is much like the fat lipids of human skin, so it absorbs faster and more completely. If you apply some other tincture or health aid to your skin for healing, mix it with emu oil to help pull it through beyond the surface skin. It’s like a carrier.

I never would have known this without the discussion during acupuncture. I think people and circumstances often enter or happen in our lives at the right time, to teach us something. It’s up to us to pay attention.

How to treat a burn – figure how bad the burn is and treat it accordingly. including to know when to call a doctor. Healing a burn is going to take a bit of time but be patient.
