Don’t Share Medicine or Recommend to Others

Orange pill bottle with white tablets.

I know someone who constantly pulls pills from her purse for people whenever she thinks something will help. The problem with that is the prescription is tailored for her, for her health issues, considering her other medications and her weight, etc. It can be detrimental to others who might not do well with the medication.

The medication could interact with other medications taken by the person she is giving it to.

It might cause an allergic reaction by having a certain ingredient. I, for one, cannot have aspirin at all, but there is a potential for aspirin to be in other medications, prescribed or over the counter. Other people have that or other issues with medications and supplements.

Use your doctor’s advice on what you should avoid or what is ok to take. Don’t let someone else “prescribe” a medication or even a supplement. Many supplements have formulations which could include ingredients that are detrimental or have interactions with other medications you are taking. It might be ok for most people but not for others.

Don’t let anyone share medicine with you. Don’t let anyone recommend medicine to you or others. No matter what, medicine is formulated specifically for the person it was prescribed for, and for no one else. It can be dangerous to take someone else’s medicine.
