Safer Laundry Soap
Laundry detergents are mostly bad for your skin and even your clothes. They have harsh detergents, fake scents, toxins, are bad for the environment and such. These can absorb into your skin, or cause rashes, or dry your skin, etc. The scents can affect your breathing or lungs.I looked for a safer choice laundry detergent or option.
Always wash new clothes before wearing them – wash off the chemicals on them before they touch your skin.
Safe laundry soap – I use only a natural brand, like 7th Generation laundry soap, or soap nuts (soap berries). Soap nuts are from a plant and naturally lather and act like a soap. These are a non-toxic choice. Natural laundry soap and cleaning products are better for you – non-toxic, non-irritating, and non-invasive.
With soap nuts, I am can re-use them over and over until they fall apart – so I get many washes from them. While they might seem expensive, they are quite affordable since you can get many loads washed with the few you use on each load. Along with my soap nuts, I put a few drops of citrus essential oils to give a nice scent, in addition to antibacterial properties. Soap nuts can be packed into luggage for travel so you can do laundry at your destination.
For stains on clothes, I use the soap nut Extreme 18 liquid (it works very well), or lemon juice, or hydrogen peroxide, or white vinegar. Test a bit on an inside seam excess fabric before using on the clothing in case it bleaches any color.
It is far better for your overall health to use a better, healthier alternative to wash your clothes and do safe laundry loads with safe laundry soap.
To keep your zippers and bra hooks from failing or buckling, make sure to close them (zip up and close the hooks). Empty all pockets of tissues and anything else – tissues will be shredded all over your clothes. If your bra hook bends, just get pliers and bend it back to where it was.
