Breathing is a necessity, but did you know that breathing in certain ways can help you heal and relax?

I used to be very anxious and stressed. I needed to get over the stress. I was told to breathe deeply and fully . Try to breathe all the way down your lungs, not just shallow breaths. Do this for several times – breathe deeply and slowly, then hold your breath for a few moments, and let the air out slowly. Concentrate on your breathing and let the problems go. Breathe for calm doing it this way.

Once I had a different pain in my back, on the left side, in the area lower than the shoulder, but along the side all the way to near the spine. While getting a massage, it was found that my ribs were rotated from flat to sticking out. The muscles in my back were doing something weird and not holding the ribs in place. She gave me exercises to strengthen those muscles, but also another tip. She told me to breathe deeply and imagine sending the breathing energy to that area. The targeted breathing took some days but did work to realign my ribs.

After breathing deeply like this, my lung capacity test also showed improvement. You need to exercise your lungs as well as the rest of your body.

Exercise your lungs. After surgery, I had to use a spirometer to challenge my breathing because it was hard after my body was assaulted and forced to lie down for days, plus having oxygen pumped into my nose. I used it in the hospital and had to take it and an oxygen tank home as well. Working at breathing into the spirometer made my lungs stronger – I test at 98-100% oxygen level when I go to the doctor office now.

Exercise your lungs. Walk briskly, run, bike, dance – anything that gets you moving and breathing harder.

Breathing deeply this way can help you think more clearly and calm down. It helps with brain fog. You have to give yourself and your brain a release.

Learn to breathe with purpose when stretching. Stretching is more effective when breathing in and out at the proper times.

As people get older, they tend to breathe more shallowly. My dad has been breathing like that for a while so now he needs oxygen supplementation. He’s been sleepy and napping too much and getting dizzy. so, do not become so lazy that you do not breathe deeply.

So, breathing deeply and purposefully can actually help you – strengthen and exercise your lungs, breathe to relax, and breathe to heal.
