When overwhelmed, stressed, in grief, sick, etc., it is good to make an appointment with a trusted person.

A doctor is a good choice for many issues. A doctor is also your first line to a specialist referral. Doctors should be trusted to help you. If you feel sick, or are in pain, or notice something of concern, do call the doctor for an appointment).

You can see a pastor or priest at your church. They are good at talking things through and helping you figure out the best next steps. They can pray with you. They can put you on a prayer list, if you wish and are ok with people knowing, else it can stay confidential. You can trust them. I’ve gone to my pastors several times (for advice, for grief, for prayers in an action to be taken) and got good advice and good support.

A counselor or psychologist might be a good option if you feel you are “losing it” and having a hard time reining your emotions and life in. If you are feeling like you have nothing to live for or anything extreme, please seek help from one of these type professionals.

See specialists if you need one. Do you have a pain in your foot or in the heel? Get it checked out for plantar fasciitis, ingrown toenail or something else. Do you have shoulder pain? Get it checked out for frozen shoulder or if the ball and socket is not lining up. Do you have breathing issues? See an allergist. Back issues? Some of the specialists will need a doctor referral so see your doctor first, if that is the case.

When you need, see the trusted people who can help you.
