My dog, on his last day, fell down and had a seizure.
He was on his side, and his legs were running like crazy – he was definitely having a seizure. I went and held him, and he was able to stop. He just wanted to be with me. He had peed and pooped (as we all would if startled in such a way) while down.
I had never experienced a dog having a seizure before.
I had him just rest after that. When he was able to walk, he went to the car and climbed in. One the way to the ER, he passed in the car.
I’m heartbroken about his loss. He had bronchitis weeks ago and was put on prednisone, but the weaning process was not handled well. If your dog is on prednisone for more than a week or two, have him carefully weaned and tested for cortisol before taking him off. Had I known this I would not have lost my precious boy.
