When sleeping, stress on your back can be helped by putting a pillow between your legs, especially at the knees.
I use a longer body pillow, so my whole leg length is on it, sleeping on my side in a fetal position. It helps my back a lot, so I figure ways to find an extra pillow when traveling. If no extra pillow, I have put my small carry on between my legs or rolled up jacket or other clothes to separate my knees.
With my back issues, I need this type of pillow to help me when lying down on my side or when sleeping. If I nap without it, I can feel a strain in my back.
A pillow between your legs really does help take pressure off your back. Try it!
